Fair points. I might add that they are proposing extending it to 30 years, not an indefinite time-span. And also, as it's a civil matter and not a criminal one there's less of a responsibility for rehabilitation.

and rehab IS an issue. basically you're saying a crime that is worth 15 years in jail is also worth an income restriction of 30 years on top of that as well. you can hardly say "you've done your 15 years, you're deemed ready to rejoin society - just don't go making a fat wad of cash anytime in the next decade or so as you're still liable for what you did 15 years ago".
