That would leave too many plotholes, but then again they don’t seem bothered about those atm.
I’m pleased he’s back as his death was entirely pointless, but it will probably be the end of the series for me if they feck it up.
| 7 years is probably plenty for any series that doesn't want to peter out.

Monday nights are so packed for competition nowadays in the US, so 24 is going to have to kick off from the moment it starts
I just wonder if the later series fans (the show's ratings peaked with S5, but dropped a wee bit with S6) would appreciate bringing the show down to a lower threat which looks like they are trying to do as 24 has been known as unrealistic with plots that are just fantasy (nuclear weapons, nerve gas etc) and obviously mostly effecting the whole of the US/world. I know fans of the show from an earlier point have wanted to see that as we all know how good season 1 was with the lower threat/personal plot to Bauer etc
bringing it down a notch might please the established fans, but the newer fans might reckon the action/plot isn't good enough and the ratings will drop. Although season 5 had a similar "unrealistic" plot and it was brilliant from pretty much start to finish. Season 6 just suffered from too many characters to develop, too many stupid plots and as much as people said they thought the show relied on Bauer, he is the show and tbh he was hardly used as much as in previous seasons and it showed
just hoping that this is the year they get back on track but 7 seasons is a long time for a show to go on and still stay fresh. Although season 5 was one of the best and it came off season 4 which had it's critics, so maybe this "reboot" is what the show needs

Been saying for ages they need to make it more personal to Bauer like in season one but can’t see it happening. The threats need to get bigger each time so feck knows what they’ll do after having nuclear weapons go off in the last season.
No one really cares about a bomb going off and killing hundreds of thousands of people you don’t know, but deaths of people like Mason, Chappelle, Tony, Edgar etc. hit home because you identify with the characters.
Also have the plots building up over time. There seems to be too much emphasis on having 24 mini-episodes rather than one long show.

Should have someone rape and kill Kim in the first hour, then Jack has to find them and get revenge, nothing to do with terrorism, that would be fb.

Oh and grow some balls and just name the country attacking you instead of always referring to them as middle eastern countries.
Apparently it’s ok to name China and Russia as being enemies but not the middle eastern countries.

It's nice to see Jack starting the season not looking like a scruff for once though.

REALLY impressed tbh.. for the first time in all my years of being obsessed with 24, i was quite underwhelmed in the build up to this season- partly due to the sour taste a lot of Season 6 left (though i'm not a true S6 hater).
The Tony thing has been discussed to death, but the bottom line for me is that i'm just delighted..there's so much potential here. I've always liked things that make reference to past seasons (well, decent things, not the fact Jack's brother was behind day 5) and Jack & Tony have the best history between 2 characters in the entire show (well, now Palmer's gone) I HOPE that Tony is deep under cover..i know Tony and Jack are two different characters, but i find it hard to accept that Tony would turn evil after being let down by his country etc, whilst Jack remains hardcore as refuses to turn.
Either way, the scenes between those 2 excite me the most- some of the best dialouge driven moments in the show have come from Kiefer & Carlos- from season 3's 'didn't you learn anything from what happened to terri?' to season 4's 'you remind me of a past i'm trying to forget'
tony aside, the plot seems interesting and different, i'm also interested how they fit in death of the first son and any involvment with the African country :-s plus it 'looks' fresh- FBI may well turn out to be a rebrandished CTU but it's amazing what a slight change of setting can do- it feels fresh and although it's early days, i remain optimistic

Tony being bad since the very very start of 24 and basically undercover for years is a possible, but admittedly gaping, plot. He was always looked upon as "bad" during Series 1.
Pretty impressed by the trailer, agree with what others have said about not wanting 4 blockbuster episodes then 20 drawn out, boring mini-episodes. I'd rather have a slow first half of the season followed by an action-packed second half.
