Don't bother bringing the car with you, as you will end up losing out on too much money with taxes, import costs and also resale value.
Also, your television won't work in Australia, so don't bother with that. You can get a good bed for less money over here aswell, soyou might want to consider not bringing that.
I used a friend to help me move, so got a discount, but I doubt he would do a move from Ireland. You would be fine using any of the bigger moving companies, as that way you can be sure that you will be covered with insurance and that will put your mind at ease for sure.
| There is a difference between being in-demand and getting good money.
When i was in Melbourne the 1st company i worked for paid me $600 a week.Which is crap.
Took me about a year and half and another company to get good money(around the $800 mark).
Which was still tough going after paying rent and bills.Plus shopping.

Any chance of becoming a subbie? That's where the real money is at.

I'm emigrating in 2 months and have already shipped my stuff, so looked into import duties etc recently.
You'll probably have to fill out one of these forms. See Section 5 about declaring stuff less than a year old to be assessed for taxes. A few of my things were new(ish) but I took a gamble. Probably best not declare anything listed in Section 3
Some other info I used: http://www.daff.gov.au/aqis/import http://www.customs.gov.au/site/page.cfm?u=4647 Company I used - reasonable price and a great service (so far...it's still in transit).

| Yeah, $800 a week you would definitely sruggle, so if you are looking at being comfortable, then the best place for you at the moment is WA. The place is booming and they are paying mega bucks because they cannot find enough skilled people to do the work that is there to do.
