Default The demise of Evesham Technologies

A pretty interesting subject for those that believed them to be a reputable retailer...

It appears that the MD, Richard Austin, has strolled out with enormous amounts of cash and continued to trade with the Evesham name, while leaving creditors £7m out of pocket and hundreds jobless. He had a directors' loan of £650,000, of which he will be paying back £150,000.

He formed a new company with investment from the bloke behind TIME Computers, but is still using the Evesham brand.

This is an edited version of an explanation I made to my credit card company in order to get my money back. It's just the easiest way I can show you the extent to which they were ****ing customers around:

Quote:
The television I purchased from Evesham in January 2007 (invoice enclosed) developed a significant picture fault in June 2007. It was replaced with a TV that was also broken. It was then replaced with yet another faulty TV, which had the same fault as the original. At this point I asked for a refund, which I was verbally promised within 7 working days of the faulty TV arriving back at Evesham's depot.

Throughout July, Evesham repeatedly cancelled appointments to collect the faulty TV without providing me any notice. Several times I waited all day for a courier who simply didn't arrive. This was blamed on a problem with the courier company they use. This was not true. In early August the company underwent a restructuring and they were finally able to pick up the television on the 10th August 2007, still promising a refund.

Having still not received my refund by the end of August, I phoned the company. They initially stated that I had not returned the TV, as they do every time I call. I then provided them with the pickup information from BusinessPost, as I do every time I call, and they miraculously discovered that I had returned the TV, as they do every time I call. I was told that a refund had been sent to me on the 20th August 2007 but was taking a while to process due to the restructuring.

I phoned again towards the end of September because I still had not received a refund, at which point I was told that I would not be offered one. Evesham claimed to have consulted with me about this on the 13th September 2007, which is impossible since I was on holiday in Canada at the time.

It now appears that a refund was processed on the 20th August 2007 but turned down by their bank. Evesham now claim to be unable to give any refunds.

I was offered a replacement TV which I have turned down.

Since Evesham announced to me that I would not be getting a refund, they have simply sat on my money and the returned TV. I have neither my money nor an Evesham TV. They have not supplied me with a working TV since June. I have been repeatedly supplied with faulty goods and lied to at every opportunity in Evesham's desperate efforts to hold onto my money.
I only got my money out of this because I'd bought the TV on credit card. Capital One will not see any money from them.

I can't make this any clearer: DO NOT BUY FROM EVESHAM MICROS!
