they've been doing it for YEARS at Edinburgh and on the radio - you have to wonder why all the people loving it now couldn't give a flying one before, despite it being the same material in many cases. iirc it was Stewart Lee who gave them their break with one of his late 90s Edinburgh standup shows, playing, appropriately, a whale and a giant prosthetic penis. series one of the tv show got record low ratings when it was shown on BBC2 (prime-time, right after the simpsons) yet it got chance after chance after chance and is now FINALLY a success off the back of DVD sales - many far better programs are shoved out once at midnight on digital and never get any internal promotion, let alone repeats and DVD releases. tremendously disappointing that the people running BBCs comedy output are more concerned with having successes attached to their name for future promotions rather than giving a wide variety of comedy a fighting chance, as in the past.
