I need a new laptop since I had to give my work one back when I changed company about a month ago
I've always been a PC user but I'm thinking about getting a MacBook this time, has anyone made the switch recently? How long does it take to adapt to a Mac? Would you recommend it?
Also, last but not least, who plays FM on a Mac in here and is it the same as it is on a PC? (faster to process maybe?)
Sorry if there's already a thread about this, I quickly searched and didn't find a recent one
Mac users seem to either be people who are real into design and would fully use a macs differing capabilities to their fullest, or people who buy them because it seems a bit fashionable, and just install loads of windows style programs and stuff on them anyway. These people also like to drink in starbucks, wear scarves and have psuedo-intellectual conversations about voltaire and politics because it makes them feel smart and cultured.
I did earlier this year, although not a switch as I still have my desktop PC. Got myself a MacBook. Had no end of problems with it (related to power and the battery), but my girlfriend got one at the same time and has had no issues with hers.
It's okay now though- doesn't take too much getting used after using Windows, in fact OSX is probably the best thing about it. Took me no time at all to adjust. FM runs fine on it, although you'd want to get a higher-end macbook with more RAM I'd imagine.
Overall I'd advise you to only get a Mac if you need it for audio/visual or design purposes, don't just get one for the sake of it.

It's not just for the sake of it. The fact that there's no virus on Mac is a big plus since I am the king at getting my PCs fcuked up really fast even with the latest anti-virus.
I use my computer to watch TV or listen to French radio to keep up with what's going on back home, is it enough to consider that I will use it for audio/video purposes?

I get the idea, although that's not what I'm trying to do at all, my dad's been a Mac user for as far as I can remember (over 20 years at least) and every time I buy a computer he pushes me to get a Mac, this time I might actually listen to him and give it a go. Parents can't always be wrong, right?
