At the time Top Gear said that if the Tipo had been made by Ford everyone would have bought one, it was that good.

A Tipo was my first instructing car. Very plain to look at, but an easy drive, masses of space and very reliable. Fully galvanised body, so no rust worries.

Enjoy your car. Just don't expect any jealous glances.

Did I just read the words Fiat and Reliable in the same sentence?? Arrrgghhh my eyes, my eyes.

I was warned about them... I saw lots of data suggesting they weren't at all reliable (Fiats in general)... and I still bought one. I don't mind admitting that I made a huge mistake.

Getting parts for it can sometimes prove difficult too. I had to have the whole steering wheel mount replaced in order to replace a faulty light switch. £300!! When some b'stard wrecked my fascia to steal my stereo, it took 3 months to get the parts from Italy!!

The car will probably gain a bit more character if you hit it a few times with a sledgehammer, rough up the interior a bit and maybe add a Bart Simpson model to the parcel-shelf.

My first car was a left-hand drive Golf Mark II so I know...
