32 is far too old to be at home. ****ing hell.
I was going to post about having left home, or some ******** like that, but I realised that, since I'm generally at "home" for university holidays (a month at Christmas, a month at easter, four months over the summer) I live with my parents half the year. What a loser I am.
I doubt I'll keep living there once I've graduated though, there isn't much to keep me in Lincoln once I'm done.

Depends but the earlier the cooler you are. I was living on my own from the age of 15 btw.

| Exactly, why woud I want to rent a house which will never be mine. I did leave home for about 8 months so know how much bills are etc and I would need to take home about £1200 to buy a house on my own.
People say they left at 19 etc but if you went to uni then you woud leave home while some people might want to buy a house with their friends. Now days a lot of 30 year old + live with their parents.

It's logical if you want your own independence or if it's something you pride yourself on.

tony, what do you do as a job to not take home £1200 a month? i started my first ever proper job today and i make more than £1200 a month, i have very mediocre/bad a-levels and no degree or experience.

I think there's a massive difference between being happy at home and purely living at home because it's currently the best choice for you.
I cannot understand anybody who's completely happy at home. Who has no intention of moving out at all.
For me, living at home is a means to an end. It's not something i'm happy with, it's not something i'm comfortable with, but it's the only real option for me until i can sort myself out.

Don't think age comes into it really, more down to when you can afford it than anything. Travelling & meeting some nice American girl is my plan, get married & work over there where house prices are relatively sane.

If someone was about 24 or 25 or older and was capable financially and practically of living away from home, but were still living at home, then to be honest I would start to judge them a little bit. It's nice to be liberal about these things, but I'd find it hard to understand why someone would still want to live with their parents at that age.
I left home for university, but that doesn't really count. Stayed at home for about a month after I'd graduated. the situation is a bit different for me though as my folks live in the countryside, where there is absolutely nothing to do. Had to get out asap.
