The key word being "some". Some writers changed, yet there were still a couple of the same writers in season 6 as season 1. David Chase is still the man who decided how the story went, and he was behind every single episode.

Had a quick check of the 5th season there and David Chase has nothing to do with a lot of them.

25 episodes of The Sopranos are explicitly credited to Chase. However, as the show's creator, showrunner, and executive producer he had a major role in all of the scripts, including producing each script's final draft. He also directed the pilot episode and the series finale (both of which he also wrote).
