The final 8 or 9 episodes really dissapointed me, but overall a great show.

>>>>> The West Wing btw, which is also great but lets it self down by being so far up its own arse.

I would say yes. The Wire is very good at giving a picture of imperfect people with sometimes dubious motives working in a corrupt system (and that's just the cops), but it doesn't have anyone as fascinating as Tony Soprano.

Haha, what? Hardly on my own here in thinking that Season 6 was complete tripe. Season 5 wasn't much better to be honest. They should have ended the whole thing after 5.

The best episode was Pine Barrens where Chris and Paulie are in the woods.

I do agree with Kenny, series 5 was the perfect time to end the show, the first part of series 6 was poor and the final episodes not much better (although the fact I really disliked Phil Leotardo as a character has alot to do with it).

End the show that unresolved like the ending of season 5? It was ended with season 6 in mind.

At least season 6 resolves a lot of character issues (as well as ending a few storylines) and most of the NY v NJ issue, where season 5 was just the build up. No way could it have ended after 5.

Season 6 was brilliant. Second part better than the first part, but still brilliant.

Otherwise I thought seasons 2 and 4 and 5 were only slightly better than seasons 1 and 3. The last few episodes of season 5 were great viewing. The series as a whole has so much quality in every area (acting, characters, writing, direction, plot) that it really is amazing.
