yeah New Years Eve would've had an extended license.

To city does have a night life, we've got loads of great clubs, and loads of great pubs/bars, but unfortunately most of these don't stay open too late, but like the rest of the country strict licensing laws meant they couldn't until quite recently.
11pm is not night time yet for me that's why I implied that Manchester has no night life </BLOCKQUOTE>

yes but the clubs are open until 2am, any night of the week, I've been to many cities that seem to close down at 10pm during the week. This isn't New York, but it's pretty good for Europe. </BLOCKQUOTE>

Ever been to Spain? Or even France for that matter.
Drinking in England
Night life in England :thdn: </BLOCKQUOTE>

They close early due to all the idiots you get over here and the drinking culture. Was so impressed when in Germany how all the pubs stay open late and you never get any bother. One tour guide said the people respect the bars and dont over do it, as they know if they did they would all close and they would be the ones losing out. Over here tho they dont think like that at all. Just get wrecked, cause loads of fights then wonder why things are closed at 11 </BLOCKQUOTE>

Fights in England are definitely ridiculous and happen way too often.

yeah but there are some clubs more likely to see fights than others, rarely happen at the places I would go to.

I guess but you still have to go from the bar back to your house and fights in the streets (or provocation at least) do happen

They do close early due to fights and **** heads.

When I went to spain the local bar owners there would say how much English people love to drink. Drinking morning till night none stop. He asked me if it was like this in England and it is really. People now a days drink all evening and all night if pubs didnt close.

He said he can just profit just selling drinks to English tourists. We do have a bad drinking culture here it seems we have to be ****ed before we enter a bar or a club. Sad really.

I believe this is where Man Utd originate from. Was always going to be difficult to redeem it.

I think it has more to do with people's behaviour.
In several countries people drink more alcohol than you do in England and they don't get in fights quite as often.

Click on the first excel spreadsheet link in there, although UK is listed as 1 country it is still behind Austria, Bosnia, Croatia, France, Germany, Slovenia... and this list only has european countries.
UK is actually only barely above the European average (9.08 vs 8.84)

Although you guys do drink a lot of beer but not quite as much as the Czech
Proof

My mate lives in Castlefield in Manchester and I was up there at the weekend and it's awesome.

Night life is great too, went to Mojo's on Saturday night and everyone was dancing on the bar gone 3:30am!
