That's probably not the reason, but it made me laugh on the SSN ticker.
| both bids were accepted, Baird just decided on Fulham. Probably because he didn't want to move north.

Seeing as no one has updated this forum for along time now I thought that I'd do the honours.
We have signed another 3 players in:
Vignal ( left back season long loan from a french club that I cant remember now)
Bennett ( Another loanee centre back from Reading)
Saffri ( Only permanent signing of the summer so far undisclosed fee from Norwich)
Looking at these signings I am reasonably happy with Saffri as from what I've heard and seen of him he looks to be a solid allround midfielder who adds much need cover to our midfield
Vignal I'm also pleased with as we have no left back since Bale left apart from Makin and hes not too good to say the least
This Bennett chappy I have never heard of and the fact that he is 25 and has never made an appearence for Reading doesnt fill me with confidence. But having watched a couple of pre season games there surely cant be anyone worse than Powell can there?
Behind the scenes we also have had the sacking of chairman Leon Crouch. When I first heard this news I thought, in my ever optimistic way, that this meant that the takeover was on the horizon. However with hindsight I think that this means it may have collapsed as apparently Crouch was the main negotiator and his sacking cant be too good for the takeover
So all in all a pretty busy coup,e of weeks in the soap opera that is Southampton football club

Busy spell for us, yes, but by other clubs' standards it's positively barren. If Viafara goes we'll have lost our best midfielder from last season, our best two young prospects in 18 months and replaced them with almost nothing.
McGoldrick might have to come good this season. We're basically the Championship version of Arsenal, we're going to set store by our youngsters this year. :/

| To me this sums up the sad demise more than anything.
Burley talks in the press about an exciting loan signing, who transpires is a reserve at Reading ffs (no direspect intended hoops fans) who the 'average' football fan has never heard of.
Have we really sunk that far?
And yes before you comment Sheer Class or Dafuge, its a rhetorical question and I know bloody well that we have |

| I dont think its that bad.
OK the signing of Bennett doesnt exactly look too good, but who knows he may turn out alrite.
And looking at our squad we still have the firepower to get out of the Championship were just lacking in Defence and possibly another midfielder for cover.
What you need to get out of this league is goals. Centre backs are alot easier to come by at this level and we have arguably the best combination of strikers in the league
