Hopefully one of the best Tyne-Wear derbies in a while, now both teams have competent managers.

Today's Chronicle is reporting that Viduka is now fit for the match on Saturday, so that's something of a lift for us. Who Fat Sam puts alongside of him will be interesting.
Also - Mike Ashley is said to be going to the match, complete with his Newcastle top. He'll probably need his minders with him in the directors box though as I can't imagine the locals being too happy about that.

BG, the director's box at Sunderland is bang in the middle of the Premier Concourse - it doesn't get rowdy up there at as all the surrounding tickets are very expensive. Also, funnily enough, Fat Sam was at a Sunderland home game in the director's box a few weeks back - he got a few boos and hisses but it wasn't intense at all.
I'm working at the game like and need to know if the Metro is running - any idea BG? If not, buses to park Lane surely have to be running?

Metros are still running. Park Lane will be closed though as the police are using it to escort Newcastle fans after the game.

As I said in the NUFC thread if there was ever a game for Mickey Owen to come good this is the one. If Viduka starts with him he'll have a much better chance of scoring, but Martins won't be chuffed to sit on the bench again.
Also news from the other side in the fact Andy Cole (as he was known in these parts!) scored in a reserve team match and is in line to be on the bench...fairytale story on the cards there...
