I read the whole thread. Was a bit confused when I saw Devastator titled but the explanation in here made sense.
Just never got round to seeing it. Kind of suspected it would be crap so wasn’t in a rush and wanted to wait for it to die down a bit due to it coming out in the summer holidays. Went on Friday night and the cinema was dead which was great (everyone seeing Borne presumably).
Like I said, really hoping the second film starts with the transformers and ends with them. Reduce the humans to cameo roles rather than the bulk of the film.
Would love to see the dinobots but still have no clue how they’d fit in.

They don't need to fit in. They could just be in the background muttering. Would still be cool.

They need to be kicking ass and stealing the show. Were always the 'main' ones as soon as they were introduced and it'll be criminal to put them in the background.

Nah, I like the idea of them in the background with Grimlock just shouting and the occasional shot of a Decepticon geting smashed to pieces.
No explanation, not much main involvement, just always there.

So who was the cassette player then? Frenzy is just a small cassette thats suppose to go inside Soundwave and reveal the information he records.

I can see how they could fit Grimlock in, lets be honest its Grimlock everyone wants to see. Obviously as you've mentioned they can take the shape of anything as Frenzy proved by turning into a phone, so no reason why Grimlock couldn't scan the skeleton structure of a T-Rex in a museum
The problem I think they have is having him in as a Autobot, it would be so easy to do as a Decepticon as we associate a T-Rex with fear, ruthfulness and destruction.
That said though they could have him as being clumsy and causing mayhem on Earth becoming an outcast, but eventually saving the day at the end, just like in the cartoons

They should really stick to the G1 cartoons that everyone wants to see. Hot Rod should be made.

They can't use the name Hot Rod and haven't been able to for a long time as its copyrighted now, it would be Hot shot or Hot Rodimus

Looks like bay may not be doing Transformers 2, he has had a falling out at paramount over their decision to back HD DVD and drop Blu Ray. Hopefully we get someone who actually understands Transformers.
