Megaron was the first robot to crash on Earth and basically buried and frozon in the Arctic so therefore could not scan anything to transform into and so stayed as his orginal form.
I got that, didn't have a problem with it at all. What I meant was he looked nothing at all like the original cartoon character.

In the movie Megatron has not scanned and transformed so he is in his orginal form from Cybertron. Basically thats what the movie interpretation of what the robots would look like on Cyberton. Until Megatron scans something he should then resemble something from the cartoons.

Thats how they did it in the cartoon, expect the transformer was not installed in every robot. It was a scanner that scanned things and then modified each robot to transform into that thing.
But surely that was the transformers were given an object and they were stuck with it, at least until they were re-scanned.
Having each transformer with their own scanner meant that they could all turn into pretty much anything. Bumblebee changed form one car to another while Frenzy went form a music player to a mobile phone. Just seemed a bit crappy to me how they could change so easily.

Yes in the cartoons a scanner basically flies out and scans things comes back and scans the robots for them to transform into. The only time the scanner does this is when it senses the robots are dead.
Having each robot with a scanner means they can transform into any object really. But of course in the movie they won't figure this out and use it as an advantage.
Somone give me a cartoon picture of Amalgamation, I dont think I have seen him. Searched but could not find anything.
