that's all well and good domestically - but it has bugger all effect on fan safety in continental and international competitions.

for all it was utterly draconian in measure, the post-heysel ban on english clubs had the desired effect. amazes me how spineless FIFA & UEFA have become that they aren't even threatening the italians with something similar. not like this incident is a first or a one off...

You people do realise how far it is between Arezzo and Milan? It's not as if it was a scuffle near the ground...

I'd think the reason that no complete ban is being mentioned is that these have been domestic incidents and not international. Doesn't mean something shouldn't be done anyway, but there is some difference between one domestic death and dozens abroad, in Europe.

Don't see anyone calling for Sweden to get thrown out either btw, despite a couple of similar deaths in recent years (Not by police tho)?

while i'm not going to take issue with the gist of the rest of your post, i will with this if you're trying to pass it off as possibly being not entirely a footballing issue. if it wasn't, the matches would never have been abandoned.

Well my point was more that it wasn't a case of the safety arrangments at the actual game failing. Though I typed that in response to an earlier post which it seems I misread, thus making it a rather pointless thing to say
