Get BT to do a line test. If theres no fault tell them the hub is knackered and you want a new one. There apparently pretty good for replacing them.

Oh and late last night I realised it was disconnecting and then it wouldnt even find my hub whatsoever unless I restarted the laptop

Your router should be above you and not below you ideally as the wave pattern is stronger in this configuration.

If you have cordless DECT phones or other devices on 2.4ghz-5ghz (microwaves and video senders being the main culprits) then these will intefere.

Id power each laptop down and see if things improve, else reposition the router and/or its aerial.

Power lines within the house are complete bastards for inteference as well, especially if youve recently use a socket that wasnt used before or used an extension lead et cetera.

iTunes 6 had a known problem with its software wanting to dictate how to best manage a device.

In device manager, find the wifi card and disable all power saving options for it.

Statically assign ip addresses for each machine, given the router is 192.168.1.254 and the netmask is 255.255.255.0 you can use 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.253 for ip addresses for the devices.

Default gateway in the above case would be 192.168.1.254, dns servers could be 212.9.0.135, 212.9.0.136 which is Jersey Telecoms DNS.
