What I was implying was that as I came around the corner, would he pan left to follow me - meaning the beam would cross with a lamppost between us?
Is it a possibility that the laser would read this as me being 85 metres away, and then suddenly as he crossed the lamppost which was closer - and mistake that for me suddenly jumping forwards 5 metres?
It seems I have no way of fighting this unless I go to court where it will be my word against his...
Thanks for the sympathy and plentiful "innocent until proven guilty" reactions |

As for obstacles im not sure, could have skewed the reading but if anything a stationary object might reduce the speed he clocked you at.
Either way youre an idiot, almost double the speed limit in a 30, bye bye licence....
| As I understood it - laser guns are supposed to be used to backup and prove a police officer's judgement that someone is speeding. Might be wrong.
Also, license won't be taken, as otherwise it would've been compulsory that I appear in court. I can allow them to deal with this in my absence, therefore I'll keep my license but probably get 6 points and a hefty fine...

If he had any kind of braincell (work with me here...) he'd of followed you past the lamp post to get a proper reading.

Rather than discussing whether you should plead guilty or not guilty and what bullshit excuses might stand a chance of working...

you're lucky you weren't doing 3 miles per hour more as then you'd have lost your license. Lucky for you, a shame for the people in your area.

But it's reasonable to assume that's the speed you know you were doing, and you're just trying to figure out a way of getting out of the fine and points, otherwise you would have added "but I was only doing 28mph" or something.

| No - someone asked my speed and I gave what was stated on the laser gun.
If I'm being honest I don't know exactly what speed I was doing (does anyone drive checking the speedo every 5 seconds?) But I was surprised when he told me it was 57 put it that way. I realise the speed sounds obscene - but I felt I was driving safely as per the conditions / situation - and although it was a 30mph limit, the offense was committed on an industrial estate road at night. Still no excuse, but it's not like I was zooming around a housing estate or near a school at 4pm in the afternoon is it?
Got to love the speed hate on here |

haha, what do you expect? You're going almost double the speed limit in a built up area. Completlely moronic.
