Thinking of buying the missus a GPS for Christmas. As her car isn't technically ours - it's a novated lease to my company for tax purposes, but she likes it so much she wants to keep it once the lease runs out - the first condition I need to meet with the GPS is that it needs to be windscreen mounted but also possible to fully install into the car at a later date (should we decide to keep the car obv). The car is a 2006 Santa Fe which has a specific space for a GPS...
Aside from that, no real requirements to the GPS other than it being a good one, and obv one with configurable maps (as I'd obv need to load in some Australian maps). Don't give a stuff about the video/music playing malarkey, in fact would probably prefer it without that guff as the car's stereo plays mp3's, and the kids use my laptop for watching movies on long trips.
i had a tomtom send me halfway round the north of england before it recognised there was a tunnel between liverpool and my house, so i'd suggest anything except a tomtom...
I've had the original TomTom, then the 700 and now I've got the TomTom 720 and have never had a problem with them. You get map errors on all makes but the good thing about the 720 is that you can correct certain mistakes on the map. It's very easy to use aswell.
well, based on kris mentioning them, i did a bit of looking around, and it seems that hyundai use the nuiv 300 if you take the gps option for the santa fe - that is, it fits perfectly into the slot in the dash left for a gps.
