So. Basically, whenever my computer tries to access it, it freezes completely. Even in the BIOS settings, when I highlight the Boot Order option that should display the possible means of booting the PC. Haven't tried (yet) acessing the HD through a Linux Live-CD distro due to lack of time but I fear it will be to no avail, since I think it will end up freezing either when it starts listing the media or when I try to actually access it :thdn:
What could be the problem? Faulty IDE/power cable? I think this has already happened before but was solved with some.. luck. Suggestions?
I was just kidding because I don't know how to fix your issue.
On a more serious note though Macs freeze way less often than PCs and have way less problems so having a Mac may have prevented you from ever facing this issue

I see, although I think that I slightly disagree on the having a Mac preventing HD issues
But thanks anyway
Faulty IDe, IDE Controller fubar'd. Drive in park zone (give it a sharp knock with your palm whilst powered on). Faulty dma controller. Overwritten MFA table
Other than that, faulty drive, theyere cheap these days so unless you had vital data on it then write it off to experience of taking backups.

So my only hope is punching it back to life then? My old CD recorder seems to work fine so does that write off the IDE Controller/dma controller faults?
