Some of these aptitude tests are geared deliberately so you run out of time.

Or you are incompetent. Choose whichever is more applicable

yeah they're not psychometric tests I don't think?

I got rejected for a summer job at tesco a couple of years ago because of the ****ing psychometric test in their application form. despite having worked there before. just got another application, applied again and passed. horrible job.

my mate did the numeracy and literacy tests for HSBC investment banking the other day, I imagine they're fairly similar to yours? he got our maths studying housemate to do the numeracy, which he passed despite running out of time and guessing about 5 answers, then got his english studying mate to do the literacy test. which he failed. cheating never pays, you'll be fine (on the numeracy :thup

With these numeracy/literacy tests, they are generally very time pressured.

Literacy ones I generally ace, just have to think as logically as possible when doing them. Numeracy ones can be quite hard and you always run out of time. Just do some practice ones online somewhere to get into the habit of nailing percentage type questions etc.

Aren't the numeracy ones based generally at an advanced GCSE level? You're not really expected to finish them, it's more a case of accuracy under time pressure and they use the tests as a filtering process to filter the top x% so the passmarks aren't uniform across the board.

Might want to check out efinancialcareers for some tips and practice.
