Nights out alone can be really fun. Talk to strangers, give the old "I lost my mates somewhere" or "I was meant to meet them here, but they let me down" line if anyone asks, and you'll be fine.

As for going to gigs alone, I do that a lot anyway. I'm going to gigs in Holland and Germany next month, without knowing anybody except people I've spoken to very briefly on another forum.

I sure would and have. How hard is it to start chatting and eventually boozing and generally having a good time with some random people in a place that's got good music and good atmosphere? Then again, we metalheads are kinda different I suppose - it's easy to recognize eachother and we have generally the same attitude going out. Getting wasted whilst howling/airguitarring along with the tunes we all know and love is the common denominator.

Well at uni clubs and stuff are open all nights of the week,

I'd happily go out to watch footy and stuff alone as thats not a problem. But if your going to a club not knowing anyone i think its slightly different.

I've gone to town on my own for a night out, but I always knew that people were out and I'd bump into them.

We had this debate on here before.

Could never go outon my own, maybe on to do shopping becuase Im in and out of shops so could do a shopping trip within an hour.

Could never go to a pub or club on my own. I mean what do you do when you get there? Buy a drink then what? No one to talk to no one to sit next to either.

To be honest time would slow down being in a pub on your own.

Kind of what I was thinking of. I'd feel odd after buying a drink and not having anyone to sit next to. I could talk to people but then they'd always just go off back to their own mates.

I did it a couple of times in Freshers Week at Uni because I didnt get on with my flatmates and they didnt like going out. Attempt to meet some new people.

Well it doesn't get busy till around 10:30/11 anyway and its only across the road, but i dont think i will. Just have a night in playing fm and save my money for another night
