Default 2007 Australian Election Thread

Seeing as how it has been announced, and will be happening this year. Nothing official, though.

Basically Rudd still killing in the polls, with Newspoll showing a 12% lead. He does need to worry about marginals though, with Queensland (where he is struggling) showing the potential to be the election decider.

Howard wants the election to be decided on tax policy, interest rates, industrial relations, and economic prosperity. Apparently he can guarantee interest rates will always be lower under Liberals than Labor (maybe he has access to parallel universes?). Old. Slogan: "Australia needs right leadership.

Rudd wants to focus on climate change, education, health and broadband. Basically just copying Howard economically, only different (kinda). Not Old. Slogan: Australia needs new leadership.

Young kids: enroll to vote.

Compulsory and preferential (instant runoff) voting. The party that wins the most electoral seats gains power.

Currently Howard (Liberals) Holds 74 seats, the Nationals hold 12 and CLP hold 1; these are part of the Coalition (a preferential group). Labor hold 59, and there are currently 4 independents.

Not voting, again. I don't ever. Although if I could've made a difference and actually known it was coming with the IR Laws, I might've last time.... meh

Best way to make a difference is to not vote, I read it in a book once.

I can't stand rudd. Slimly little troll of a man. His part is a bunch of incompetent union puppets who spent the last 6 years fighting over who should be leader.

Do I want them running the country? No Thanks.

They do say, don't they, 'better the devil you know' ?

Although, I'm not so sure that Howard wouldn't just stand down in favour of Costello if they get up again, and that guy is one slimy troll of a man!

I seem to remember a pre-election promise made once, by some guy. 'There will be no GST in this country' or something along those lines...

I see the Liberal smear campaign has left you refreshingly unbiased.
