Afternoon all.

Im at Edinburgh Uni and am writing my dissertation on the role of the new football economy on the game. Focused on the growth of PLCs and the need to please shareholders with profits over fans with trophies.

Im starting to get into full flow on my dissertation, and a large section of it is 'hopefully' going to be supported by an online questionnaire which I will be asking forums and supporter groups to fill out with a hope to gaining a large collection of data of the views of the every day fan.

I am hoping to get a large sample, but the best way of doing this I feel is through an online questionnaire. Ive looked into it and there are so many choices. Some free, some which I require payment to use. Im not against paying, I just want to get the best format out there to give the best chance for people to take the time to fill it out.

Does anyone have any experience with this line of research and as such, have any recommendations for good websites to use and any general advice on how to carry this out?

btw, we are currently working on a football related poll based on 1000 respondents for a very popular national tabloid - but that's about the England team.

Such websites do exist - and are free, if a little crass. I will look them up when I get home and let you know. I suspect someone else will get in there before me though.

Sounds an interesting dissertation. I don't start mine until next September, but I will be interested in how you analyse the data, as the way mine is going will probably rely on similar style data (although completely different subject.)

Cheers Gav, any advice you have would be warmly welcomed. I have done a similar project to this whilst on placement last year, although that was a postal sample rather than online. To collaborate and analyse the data I used a software called SPSS, we got trained how to use it, but with a bit of effort and time reading some online guides im sure you could get the grip of it.
