i am sure that most things people download for free they do so because its free. so if the alternative was pay for it or not have it with regards to an album or film, I am sure most people would choose the 1st option and just not bother

Nobody wants to pay 2.99 or 3.99 for 1 song and a half arsed B side, when they can D/L that one song for a third of the price.

| lack of quality artists and quality albums I expect, apart from sheep who buy anything the X-Factor brings out - others are harder to persuade to buy an album until they have an idea on how good/bad it is
although I guess price probably comes into it as well as supermarkets probably take a huge chunk out of HMV and Virgin (well Zavvi's profits) Zavvi is such a dire name </BLOCKQUOTE>
I don't believe popular music is any different than it ever has been.

Music is readily available now on many different formats (illegal download, radio, tv) why bother buying it?

| Because it was tagged or of poor quality.
Anyways download decreased due to people no liking the album after they heard it or got sick of it. So basically didn't pay money for it.
And before someone points out Im on probabtion for priacy Im not.

Home taping is killing music.

Films are being downloaded before they hit cinemas and that hasn't affacted box office sales.
