i haven't, but have heard about it, will have to check it out, have seen To Kill a King (2003 - i think) which was average at best, quite enjoyed the tv drama, Charles II Power and Passion, despite its sensationalism, still watchable!

Had to read about a million books in my Senior Honours year for my dissertation: The Relationship between Monarch and Parliament in Sweden, Austria, France and the UK from Early Modern Times to the Present Day: A Comparative Study.
My absolute favourite, by a long, long way was this one. Anyone with any interest in Swedish history, particularly the monarchy, would be well served to invest in same.

| It's very specifically about him, but it has Charles II in it (played by John Malkovich) and an element of the politics of the time (particularly the question of James' succession as a catholic).
Haven't seen To Kill A King although I know which film you're talking about. Can't understand why no-one has been able to make a decent drama/film about the Civil War.

Two books I enjoyed reading a few years back were "Ofredsår" and "Den Oövervinnerlige" by Peter Englund. The first being an account of the the 30-years war (Mainly following Sweden, but gives a decent overall view of it), between 1618 and 1648. The second one taking place right after that, with Karl X at the centre and featuring the march across the frozen Stora and Lilla Bält to defeat Denmark.
Anyhow, those tips seem quite pointless as they don't seem to be translated into English. Of his books, only "Poltava" (And some book about the Swedish tax reform ) seem to be translated, which is a shame IMO.

There are surprisingly few books about Feudal Japan in English. A few on Saumurai.
Did Turnball's book have a Bibliography? If I read a book and find areas of interest, I check the Bibliography for the chapter I was interested in and then do a search on the Library website or Amazon.
