Whilst watching the Remembrance Day service yesterday morning and listening to Nimrod from the Enigma Variations, it got me thinking about the saddest songs and pieces of music i'd heard.

Nimrod is quite sad but also uplifting too. Johnny Cash's version of 'Hurt' is very sad, especially watching the video of it.

However in my opinion the saddest piece of music is Lento E Largo Tranquillissimo by Henryk Goriecki, especially the first 50seconds and the part at 5mins 29s. Truly heartbreaking.

Basically the song in which Brian Wilson announces that he's f**ked in the head forever. Awesome, awesome song

Wouldn't say this was the saddest song, but it moves me. the Schindler's List theme, performed by Itzhak Perlman and conducted by John Williams. It just has something.
