Default Worldwide wage cap for football players

I've been thinking about this a bit recently. There are certainly problems with football at the moment, and most of them have been done to death on here. Off the top of my head:

- The domination of the top four

- High ticket prices

- Premiership becoming more and more foreign possibly resulting in a weak national team.

- The gap between the Premiership and the Championship is huge, which results in clubs putting out weakened teams in the cups, which I think is a big shame.

- Players getting bad press for being 'overpaid prima donnas' - would be nice if all the people saying that would be made to shut up.

- Leagues from certain countries becoming far more powerful than those of others, for instance the way South American clusb can't hold on to their best players

- Clubs spending too much money, which leaves them in terrible financial situations such as Leeds, Sheffield Wednesday and Coventry.

There's a general feeling that money genuinely is starting to spoil things for the average fan.

If a worldwide wage cap of something like £30,000 a week for each player could be enforced, I think it would go an awful long way to solving a lot of the above problems. The questions: would it really? is it enforcable? is it fair? are the problems that bad that we really need it?

Ways around it. Players would get 70k plus addition "bonuses" to compensate for their lower wage

The reason more forign players are being signed is because generally they are cheaper and have better standards.

English players who are ok are massively over-valued most of the time so less teams want to sign them.

It's called market economics, and too many clubs won't agree in principle to it.

I think the bigger evil is allowing bookmakers to play prediction leagues

It'd be bad for a few big clubs but good for everyone else. Don't know how much power FIFA have, could just make the big clubs fall in line if they wanted to?
