Capping ticket prices would be a more realistic approach IMO.

even more places would be given to corporate sponsors, etc. who would pay extra for 'other' things.

No cap will ever be implemented imo, but surely if a cap was ever implemented in any aspect of football, it would be on the squad's wages as a whole rather than on single players'.

It does work to good effect in the States but that's a completely different set up to the football world.

There's a general feeling that money genuinely is starting to spoil things for the average fan.
Some facts to back this up please?

Premiership recently secured its biggest tv deal ever, Championship is like the 5th best supported league in Europe or something?

I know not every ground is full everyweek but I'd be suprised if, on average, attendances were falling across the top four tiers? Even if they were this is probably explained more by people watching on TV (a bigger revenue stream anyway) rather than any apathy to football.

Sorry if this got in the way of the nostalgia

nah they'd just give bonuses for turning up to training/other easily achievable thing which would bump it right back up to their usual wage.

If you pay for Sky Sports or pay the ridiculous ticket prices then you can actually do something about it yourself before you start moaning about overpaid players, too many foreigners, too high prices etc.

You think capping wages at £30k (if possible, which it's not, go vote for the communist party if you want it), would mean directors would decide to use their new found profits from lower costs by reducing prices rather than by paying more to shareholders then you know nothing about business.

As for your individual points Ned they are all flawed, and capping wages wouldn't solve any of them.

I wish people would give up on this ffs.

oh and coming from someone whose job it is to make as much money as possible out of the average gullible football fan

let me ask you Ned does your company give use it's profits to give better odds to punters? do they reduce your wages because their customers are losing too much?

Don't get me wrong, I love football at the moment, I'm not really one of those 'football is totally going down the pan' people. I often find myself defending the state of the modern game while talking to people who are like that.

But a lot of people are worried about football at the moment, the problems I mentioned are big discussion points. There is a general feeling that money is starting to spoil football and I think it's partly justified.
