£60 and 3 points. how long does it take for points to expire?
| Did you not only pass in May or something as well?
Watch you don't get another 3 then

must have been close to the 6 point penalty there too. anyone know what the rules are in this respect? I assume you have to be a certain % over the speed limit to get the 6 points?

I've got a few good ones. Police in Melbourne are amazing.
A few years ago some friends and I were smoking joints in a car near the beach on a weekend afternoon. The police drove next to us in an unmarked car, and confisacted our grass, which was only a couple of grams. They said they were doing us a big favour by not writing it up, and we were all happy about that.
About 45 minutes later we were driving around and the same car was parked in a side-street, with the windows halfway down and smoke coming out!
The week after one of my mates first got his licence, an unmarked car followed him around for a while before pulling him over. He got done for:
Excessive speeding (i believe in was more than double the limit.
Not wearing a seat-belt.
Talking on a mobile phone.
Pulling an illegal u-turn.
He lost his license for over a year, massive fine, and had to go to court.
About 2 months ago a mate of mine got caught by a sniffer dog trying to get into some dance party at the tennis centre. He had small quantities of marijuana, speed and extascy. So they wrote him up a fine, and have made him attend 5 drug awareness classes. Once all this was done, they gave him the marijuana and speed back and told him to 'have a safe night'.
Finally, my cousins boyfriend was driving down the great ocean road a few years ago on a motorbike which had no mirrors, he was over the limit and going about 160km/h. He got chased by the police for about 2 hours, and they dropped off about 4 times because they couldnt keep up. He had no idea, because he had no mirrors. Eventually they worked out he'd notice if they came from the other direction.
He had to go to court, had his license suspended for 2 years i believe, and got a suspended jail sentence.

| I think it's when you exceed the speed limit by 30mph or more

i did get stopped for jaywalking once and had to wrangle my way out of a 50Eur fine. did not even know it was against the law here.
| Some humourless Canadian cop tried to do me for jaywalking, but I told him I was Iain Goodyear of 10, King Road, Ipswich and haven't heard anything about it since.
