I gotta agree with White Raven, this sort of thing really negates your argument. When your players don't follow simple instructions, like "close down ALL THE TIME" or "no long shots", it can really get on your nerves. Also for me, the sheer number of shots on target I get compared to the opposition game in game out is annoying, especially when they nick a goal with their SINGLE shot on goal and win. The confidence bugs, etc are something that I haven't come across.

I haven't played my copy since I lost to Siena with Milan, when Kaka had three goals disallowed, hit the post FOUR times and missed a penalty. Complete bum.

Please don't come on this forum and proceed to tell me I'm bad at a game I have enjoyed and been successful in since 1996. That's just obnoxious and fuels the "patch-moaning" (of which I declare myself completely and utterly guilty, but feel it's my right to voice my protest anyway). Saying that other people can enjoy the game only totally (and trust me on this) infuriates those who can't.

Roll on this week and the patch so I can enjoy FM2008 as it's supposed to be.

Are you all oblivious to the beta-patch? It fixed most of what you complain of here.

I played a patched game. I am not oblivious to the beta patch. I enjoyed the game more before the patch. Why can't you understand I don't enjoy the game right now? The hundreds of people on here who complain that they can't enjoy the game can't be wrong, can they? I, like you, normally refine my tactics after a few months to make sure I'm playing to my team's strengths.

I know I'm going to enjoy the game when the match engine is fixed. Will you PLEASE believe me when I say I can't enjoy this game. There is nothing wrong with me, there are hundreds like me on this forum, I just want to go one day checking to see if the patch is here without seeing another patronising post about how bad I am at FM because someone else has won a few league matches.

i wont touch the game without the full patch...its a waste of time starting a bugged game to have to start it all again to get the benefits of the full patch..

about closing down bug, zodiak, you are right. CD is not all about tackling. there are interceptions, bad passes as resoult of CD, long balls....
i think CD is not perfect (needs a fix) but you cant just tell all players to close/not down. think of ronaldo, how many times you seen him chasing defenders, in last 5 years?

bigger problem with defense is (my point of wiew) that it doesnt work as a unit. i seen many times opp striker (with no his team mates near) taking on my defender, and other DC and full-back just watching. in defence players should help each other and there are many times IRE when you can see 4-5 defenders surounding the attacker, esp in the box. that is also why so many goals are scored on 08.

but the match engine's got good base with few improvements this game's gonna look allmost like real football.

It has been what, 3-4 weeks since FM08 cam out, very soon it had 2 beta patches, which other versions have not had, because it was that screwed up on release, and it requires another main path to get it to the standard that most would find acceptable.

And after that the .2 patch.

I find it funny to see people tell me I suck and it must be tactics. How exactly is it tactics when I have my striker missing clear chances and headers non-stop? That is like blaming Wenger for Arsenal players shoddy finishing and open goal misses last year.

The idiotic long shot bug is a major problem, no matter what you do even a DM hits non stop long shots, no through balls to the strikers therefore no clearer chances.

The amount of goals disallowed.
Penalties missed.

ArseneFM if he tells the defenders to close down they should do it regardless? Assuming they are on low CF? And them not doing it, like my players never listening to my instructions trying to get them not to hit long shots, means it is broken.

No I am not wrong with my tactics on the long shot thing, it is in known issues on the bugs forum, likewise the closing down issues.

Bloody hell! WHERE in this thread or anywhere else for that matter have I even once implied that you all suck at FM and I don't? WHERE?

All I said was that I managed and still manage to enjoy the game and somehow minimize the bugs! That's all! And yes, I said that instead of complaining some people ought to spend more time refining their tactics etc. I did say that but I had newer FM fans in mind and I still think I made a valid point.

I enjoyed my 2 seasons managing Ajax and I enjoy my season with Man City. The game is playable and enjoyable, it's just different from FM 2007.

But I never even thought of saying that you all SUCK and can't play FM. Believe me, you got it all wrong. I just wanted share in wake of all the complains and comments.

Kudos Zodiak.

That was a really great post. I play the game in a similarly thorough way, and (apart from the dreaded closing down bug) I find it way better and infinitely more enjoyable than 07.

Cheers SI and thanks Zodiak.
