Oh and to whoever asked: I got Diego for 15m with clauses. Just took my chance, really, never wanted to buy specifically him. Surprisingly, Werder accepted and he agreed to join, stating he wanted to play in a better league. Fair enough, I say.

Then I used the new feature and formed a new transfer budget from my excessive wage budget (which I had asked for in October) and bought a great DM (Makoun) and a decent DL (Aurelio). No idea why Liverpool sent him to the reserves, he never even played a league game.

It really depends on whether you want a simulation game to be realistic or not - if you don't care then it's playable.
have to agree unplayable. its going to take the mother of all patches to sort this one out.

Damnit, the whole point of the thread was to say it is PLAYABLE AND REALISTIC!!! Realistic scores, realistic leaders and bottom-leaguers, realistic matches! Close down bug? Never heard of it! Sure, there are some eyebrow-raisers, so to speak, but there were lots in FM 2007. I remember all those injuries, for example, in FM 2007. Now it's alright. The super goalie bug is there for balance. "Fix" it and the game THEN will be unplayable. Close down bug is still a bit there, sure, but I am certain the patch will kill it.

Everything else is YOUR FREAKIN FAULT!. YOU are in control. If you spend time and think about your tactics, your players, their relationships, their morale, the opponent, how to beat him, whether to play thru the middle or use your flanks etc. etc. - you will be victorious!

That's simply not true. And people are getting sacked left, right and centre even when they are victorious. Another reason why the game is not playable. Why start a game, spend days setting it up, hours and hours on tactics, only to get sacked despite OVER-ACHIEVING the board's expectations.

If you want to waste your time, waste it, but it's obvious that Serious FM fans that want a serious simualtion are saying a resounding "no!"

Have you installed the beta-patch?

I was UNDER-achieving A LOT and still managed to keep my job!

Sorry mate but all you seem to do is moan...

Serious FM fans can understand why there is the odd fault in a game and they can also understand that it can be fixed.

As Zodiak has shown - it is very possible to have a good game on FM!

Yeah I did. And it seemed ok, I played with Leeds Utd and got them promoted. Then I started a new game with Arsenal employing EXACTLY The same formation and tactics. Suddenly the Arsenal defenders refused to close down the opposition, they just back off, back off, back off. It was infuriating.

So clearly there is a bug, because is your defenders are closing down for one team then they should close for another team when you are employing an identical tactic. It was so stupid I had to stop playing the game and haven't touched it since.

Erm.... Nope. Simply no. You are wrong. You need a different tactic for Arsenal taking into account your ARSENAL defenders and their abilities, not freakin' Leeds.

well I said exactly the same thing as you did before and got into a war of words with WR and earned a yellow

So I honestly believe the best thing you can do is "add to ignore list"

arsenal defenders have better "decision making" so they think it is better to keep themselves between the goal and the opponent instead of the other way round.....right?
