Of course you can, but I just wanted to make my point regarding accidently clicking a quit-button.

People shouldn't be that afraid about making mistakes.

In a car you can do far more worse as in most software titles.

Using a car wrongly could really kill you.

However, it's not loaded by Nag Screens that are 'protecting' you, instead they have chosen to give you tools to undo situations.

This is what other people are saying about Nag Screens:

Usability designer Alan Cooper describes these error boxes as “Kafkaesque
interrogations with each successive choice leading to a yet blacker pit of retribution
and regret” [17]. They’re a bit like the land mines that sometimes feature in old war
movies, you put your foot down and hear the click and know that although you’re
safe now, as soon as you take the next step you’re in for a world of hurt.
Unfortunately the war movie get-out-of-jail-free card of being the film’s leading
character and therefore indispensable to the plot doesn’t work in the real world —
you’re just another redshirt, and you’re not coming back from this mission.

The fix for all of these dialog-box problems is to click ‘Yes’, ‘OK’, or ‘Cancel’ as
appropriate if these options are available, or to try again later if they aren’t. Any user
who’s used the Internet for any amount of time has become deeply conditioned to
applying this solution to all Internet/network problems. These warning dialogs don’t
warn, they just hassle.

When you exit the event scheduling program Automate Pro, the program thoughtfully reminds you that doing so will prevent all scheduled tasks from being performed. The fact that it also warns you even when you have no tasks scheduled caused us to wonder just how much we should rely on the program.

And if you use Google you’ll find hundreds of nice articles about Nag Screens. Especial about the ‘Are you sure to Exit (Y/N) ?’ one…

My point about a quit-button I really would like to have, linked to auto-save, is to use the combination of two or three clicks rather than a nag screen.

The question here now is, if you think, combination-click is the same like nag-screen and I think it is not.

I would like to see an "apply all" function for training schedules.

for example: Apply all training schedules > rest > 1 day.
Easy add-on and very usefull for people with many different training schedules.

This would save me many mouse clicks and a new wrist

More parts in the game could use an "Apply all", this would make it alot more user friendly.

Nice constructive post btw sir ew ! fm08 is a great game but the game would be even better when they think more about usability and a more user friendly interface.

No, it's not the same.

But if you would implement this then you're interfering other usability 'rules':

•It’s not commonly used. So you are not reusing people their gained knowledge
•SI would get thousand of service calls, by mad people shouting that they can’t quit the game. Don’t expect that anyone is reading a manual, even when things go wrong.

Also, I don’t think there’s a need for. If the game is saved, nothing can go wrong. If people return to FM they always can restore the desired old situation…

What should be arranged is giving the game some smartness. If a player opted to save it by himself and then leaves the game directly, then it shouldn’t save automatically anymore.

Yep usability is even key.

They can add all kind of new features but that’s not that important anymore. Sure some things can be improved, but not that much, the game is pretty mature.

With usability they are running away from the competition and this for several reasons:

•FM gamers are High Frequency users. If you use something a lot you’ll benefit from ergonomics the most.
•SI could attract another market share. People that are attracted by the user-friendly approach.
•SI would create another Unique Selling Point. The competition isn’t very user-friendly as well. By instance FIFA Managing is blinking and looks good but it’s containing more usability flaws as FM2008. Improving usability looks simple, but is difficult to achieve.

Before the iPod, other MP3 players were on the market. Some were far cheaper and some had dozen times more functionality. The iPod just did what people would expect and it was an ergonomic tool.
