is there really much need for regen managers?? are there not enough former players to do this.
it's not so much a problem in lower leagues, but 3 seasons into my game a 31 year old regen has taken over at Dundee Utd! i think this takes away a bit of the realism!
Not all managers are former footballers, there are some who didn't play at all, or have played at very low levels or at young age only, but as managers are at the top levels in their countries...

Sir Alex Ferguson was never a player and look where it got him!
Sir Alex Ferguson played professional football for many Scottish SPL sides, including Rangers. Infact he was a striker with a goal average of over 1 goal every 2 games.
I can't remember ever seeing an uncapped player move into management (but I havn't got the new game)
There should be more undecorated, unspectacular players who move into coaching/management (and this would remove the need for quite so many managers with no playing history whatsoever).

Looking at the statement critically, though - how many of them don't at least start as coaches, and move through Assistant Manager before taking that final step and becoming a Manager.
If anybody has a single real-world example of a manager taking over a club, say, at the Championship or higher level without experience as either a player, a coach, or an assistant, give us details (including age at time of hire.)
