Isn't the answer to the problems discussed quite straight-forward:
Release the demo to the masses for feedback and bugs but have a big enough gap between release of demo and release of final version so that major errors at least have a chance of being eradicated/modified prior to release, whether that means releasing the demo earlier or the game later or both.

| In previous years this was done in a controlled way to set of carefully selected gamers to do beta testing
I'm not sure what happened this yea. Perhaps SI have already confirmed somewhere
However you need to remember commercial reasons of some unethical person making this available to the masses and how this could affect revenue etc

| Simple but effective suggestion but I suspect that commercial strictures will get in the way of this.

SI needs to pick their butts up and do their job right.
I bought this game to be able to play it without major bugs that make the game unplayable, not to have it sit on my desk and wait for a patch to fix the problems.
I sure hope the competition in this genre of games gets more heated so there are more alternatives available since things are looking shaky for the future.

| you need to pick your butt up and shut up too
1. even without the patch, the game is not unplayable, despite of the bug that is.
2. While you wait for the patch, you dont have to sit on your desk all day
3. There are other management games like Fifa manager, LMA manager etc which are more acrade instead of realistic so if you like them you can go play them. Nobody put a pistol on your head to force you to play FM.

But that would have made absolutely no difference in this case. The majority of the bugs had already been reported by the testers. It's just a fact of life that at some point the game has to be released, and if bugs are found close to this date, then a decision has to be made on whether to risk fixing them, or whether to leave them in and patch them later.

Raver:
Well the Beta patch did bring up some minor bugs. It IS beta. However, before blaming SI, could it be your own tactic that isnt correct?
Why do players stand around? did you check "tight marking"? Did you check "closing down?" too lazy to do so? your team is too good? if you did, then why didnt I get these problems? Well I used to but I did follow some advice from the following website: www.fm-britain.co.uk
It contains DETAILs about set up defence, attack, and tactic frameworks and what each slider does. and believe me it is VERY VERY helpful, because I used to have problems you have, having a 2nd class striker dribble past Gallas like Galls is an absolute idiot.
Instead of getting things like 5-5 I keeps getting 1-0 or 2-1 or mostly low-scoring games. Yet I manage to shut off the opponent pretty nicely.
About the heading things, do you mean BEFORE the patch? Yea before the patch I also have Wayne Rooney winning headers above Senderos then chase his own header and score but it never happened after the patch and the effectiveness of a heading monster is reduced. IMO anyway

| 1. I guess you didn't realize I like the depth of 1FM and not an arcade type of game. Maybe I should of put that in to make it more clear.
2. And without the patch, the game is unplayable to me and many others as you may have read in the Bugs and General section of these forums. I play long-term career games in lower leagues, and with the attendance bug in the lower leagues, it really does ruin the game, as another member mentioned in this thread.
So you can stop defending SI as clearly there's a huge amounts of unhappy customers, because you are not only saying this to me, but to them as well. There's a problem and it's obvious what it is.

| There are SOME unhappy customers but there are MORE happy ones and thats a stonewall fact. most players and review sites such as IGN rate is as high as the previous games and thats a fact too.
You think with the BUG its unplayable but
A. SI fixed it in the patch
B. I won the Euro2008 with England even with the BUG while you are waiting for your patch
