I broke my Fm 2005 and 2007 discs, both times i calmly ejected the disk then threw them as hard as I could against the wall. Sometimes inanimate objects need to feel PAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIN.
PAIN you were forced through because of a bunch of asshat algorithms that meant the opposition beat you in the playoffs (after you had 35 shots and 68% possession) 3-0.

BTW I have absolutely no regrets, sometimes you need the cathartic release of destroying your nemesis more than you need money.

That’s £34.99 wasted. Still, I’ve got to say, I’ve never felt better…breaking the game that is not playing it.
This game, to say the least, is not ready and honestly not good enough for the amount you pay. I don’t understand why you have to buy the game and wait for it to be fixed, if it’s not ready why release it. I just feel sorry for the people who don’t know about the updates or patches; they most likely think they’re playing the end product. The crazy things that happen in the game makes you wanna weep!!! (I know, I’m a big baby, yes, I said it, not you!) Like, failing to hit the target from 2 yards out, come on!!! The number of goals that get scored from players making mistakes, nonsense!!! Plus... oh, this is the pits, it really is, the offside rule, someone enlighten the designers that fifa…you know, the world governing body of football, have changed the rule, like about 5 years ago! The new rule states that if a player is not interfering with play he/she is not offside. Come on!!! Pull your fingers out and read the rules. The only noticeable difference in this game, from previous versions, is the interface…and the colour, it is now red, wow! The gameplay is the same; the commentary is the same, all the words and phrases are the same. Only now I’ve run out of patience and quietly resigned.
| I broke the FM 2007 disc too a while back. Felt great.

I've had a similar experience of having a goal scored against me and then my players all marching off after the lines man. While that was happening the opposition kicked off!
Annoying but not worth chucking the disk away!

I have to completely agree with Green Hornet, And I would be interested to hear from the makers on their take on this (but doubt I will).
An RRP of 35quid for a game that isn't finished is outrageous. Its no wonder games get pirated. Personally I would rather wait an extra 6months until the game has been properly tested and is (as far as possible) free of bugs than pay the RRP for something that doesn't work. And lets be honest here, some on the bugs are stupidly obvious to any who's played the game for any length of time.
I appreciate these games are hard to make, but i would hope the programmers would want to have pride in creating a fully working product. Unfortunatly it appears that the company HAS to churn out a new version ever year (just before Christmas) in order to cash in. Its a shame, but a short term attitude like this will ultimately lead to more people pirating the game or simply not bothering with it because it is an inferior product.
Please let future versions be closer to 'perfect' when released, even it means we don't have an FM09. In fact that might get us all anticipating FM10 even more.

I have decided to not play the game until a full patch comes out. It's getting ridiculous how none of my 4 good strikers can score on a regular basis. All with high finishing 17+ (with Rooney being the only one with 17, the rest were 19 and 20) and good composure plus the coaches even say they are "consistent performer" (maybe he meant consistent in missing the net). I have had around 2-3 disallowed goals on average, a combination of fouls on corners and those dubious offside calls.
Next, the closing down problem. I thought for a long time "what am I doing wrong in 08 that worked so well in 07?" I think I found my answer on the forum because closing down does not work. My team was always the best defensive team when I played 07 and I used the same formation and instruction but my team is leaking goals like crazy. My CB's are constantly out of position and getting beat in the air by some small striker or literally just stood there like a pylon. If a player is free on the left side (i.e. sort of a breakaway), the right CB will still stand there and not close him down until 10 yards later.
On the bright side, I can't really break a CD since I bought through the digital download, but I was close to smashing my mouse against the wall or into my LCD. The amount of disallow goal I see takes the fun out of it for me because I no longer celebrate a goal by my team when it goes in, I have to wait like 10 sec to see if it is disallowed first, but by then, it's not that fun anymore. The excitement is gone due to the ridiculous amount of disallowed goals, I basically have to play it with no emotion attached to my team (read as: show no emotion to whatever happens), else it will just **** me off constantly, but then I don't see a point in playing this if I have to do that. It seems like a random factor now more than anything.
Anyways, we can always have some hope for the next patch to fix at least some things.

| the problem is that the pirated version do not really work. though in order to play the crap now you really have to buy it. i said x times to myself that i will not buy it this year .. but i did again and im ****ed that after years and years they still dont get the rules right or just simple things like if you have won a trophy in a penalty shootout you still cant praise your players because it was just a fantastic result. no you can say you sympathize or just be pleased... years and years and nothin happens and i predict that with the go live of the FML version its the end of FM. maxing out the profit. sigames should have never been sold to sega. damn damn
