Yes - see above.

Capello was sacked after winning the league but had poor showing in Europe and wasn't popular amongst the fans which is why he was sacked.

del Bosque didn't get a new contract after four years having won the league twice and the champions league twice. This is because the board of Real Madrid were a bit stupid.

Though I don't think one example (at Real Madrid no less) is enough to counter the claim that it's unrealistic.

I think you've got to look at this as in Real Life.

If Bradford got promoted this season and finished season 2008/9 4 pts from the play-offs in league 1.

There is no way on this earth that they wouldn't keep the manager. They would probably have to stop other clubs from poaching him.

Hopefully the patch will fix things like this, otherwise there isn't much point in playing in the low divisions.

In my game Real Madrid decided not to renew the contract of Schuster despite the fact that they won the Spanish cup, ended 2nd in the league and lost the final in CL.

Still an acceptable season though.

Similar thing happened to me at tottenham.
Managed to win everything but english cup in 1st season and won everything other than the english cup again in 2nd season and yet i wasnt given a new contract. Luckily i used FMM to auto renew my contract by 10 yrs lol.

btw i reached the final of english cup for both seasons, each time beaten by Coppels team . Reading 1st and the Everton for the 2nd season

Thanks for all the responses to the thread. Just for the record, their was no take over at the club, i had not applied for any other jobs and players all seemed happy. It took me a week to get as far as i did and then all of a sudden i was on the dole. In fairness i have not downloaded the beta patch, id rather wait for the official patch to be released. I only hope this bug is fixed in the patch or i can safely say i wont be playing again.Its a shame because i was really enjoying the game but this was just ridiculous. Thanks again for all the interest in the thread.

It doesn't really matter what obscure exsampels you can think of irl, where a manager gets sacked or doesn't get a new contract for overperformance.

This is a game. In a game you shouldn't be punished for doing well.

happened to me too, was manager of newcastle finished 2nd in my first season and then 6th in my 2nd season of which both exceeded the boards expectations. Was building a nice squad as I aim to do over many seasons had players arriving 1st of July. Contract not renewed on that very day cub wanted to go in another direction. Sack of ****. Its not good enough, and beggars belief for people not computer savvy enough to look out for patches or have no internet access. Luckily that doesnt apply to me.

On another point SI games its time to start getting these games out in late August early September so people feel like they are playing the game with players who are currently with their clubs. For god's sake identify the heavy users of the game through the forums or ask! and get them to test the game over the summer before you realise something flawed.
