With the increasing numbers of foreign players coming to the Premiership is there a danger that our National Team will have no Premiership players?
The uncontrolled recruitment of foreign players is a force which the FA seem unwilling or unable to stem.
Less and less England players are first choice for their Clubs and with the Top 4 almost bereft of English players it is likley that unless the FA intervene England's international team will get weaker and weaker as time goes by.
Many in the game believe it has damaged England national team and that more and more players will come to the England squad from the Championship rather than the Premiership as the Clubs recruit foreign and as less players get Premiership experience England will slide further and further down the FIFA rankings.
British players are expensive compared with overseas players - this, coupled with their ability, makes them more attractive to Premiership managers as they get more bang for their buck. English players in particular are pricing themselves out of moves because of their wage demands/valuation and if the national team suffers then it is them to blame, not the overseas players who have made our domestic league the best in the world.
It is getting to be serious problem with the EPL. Because of the money everyone and anyone is attracted here. It's not just that players are cheaper it's just that there is so much competition. For a young player now it must be depressing. Even academies have foreign kids. Twenty years ago the England manager could look around and see a hatful of options for every position. Not now. The future for the England team does not look good.
