| yeah, it was the Ebbsfleet/ MyFootballClub thing. Might have been the manager or Brum chainman as someone said.

spot on robertodibiaggio!
it was actually Demetrio Albertini who was asked by then Italy manager (Trapatoni i think) about the new English player. Albertini just grabbed his laptop and launched CM3 or was it CM992000 and got him some info on the so-called unknown English players Quote:

Someone may jump in here and correct me, but I believe in 2001 the England under 21's were playing Italy under 21's. The Italian coaching staff therefore played Iatly U-21's vs. England U-21's on the latest version of Champ to get an idea of who the players they needed to keep an eye on were as apparently they had little genuine scouting available to them. I also think Italy won 1-0....
May be an urban legend, but not the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. You have to think in certain situations in recent history that people must have been playing e.g. Bakayoko signing for Everton, Lennon signing for Leicester, Seth Johnson getting plucked from a poor team, Simon Davies climbing to the Premiership from the lower leagues - all quality players on the game before they were signed in real life. It either says to me a) someone is playing FM first to get an idea, b) FM is getting it spot on with some players or c) a combination there-of
In answer to the quetion of pro players though, I'd guess the majority of them would be mainly Pro Evo type guys and not FM. I did once work with a footballer who had a pro contract with Leicester for two years and he said that Pro Evo and Fifa were basically all the players played....
| It wasn't the under 21's. It was the full national team when Peter Taylor managed us for one game away in Italy. There were a lot new, young players like Seth Johnson and Gareth Barry.. the Italian management had no idea so referred to FM....apparently of course. </BLOCKQUOTE>
