"Tricky Trees" is abysmal. I just call them Forest.

Until FM08 I'd never heard of that nickname.

In fact Forest to me have always been one of the very few teams, along with Spurs, to almost be solely refered to by their nick rather than their team name.

Old school supporters like my grandfather still call them the "Garibaldi Reds" after the Italian freedom fighter and his followers who always wore red shirts.

I was going to say "The Reds" is so much better, even if it can be applied to about 10% of teams.

I tend to refer to them as Notts Florist myself.

If I remember rightly, Garibaldi is / was the nickname for the Forest shirt. I seem to remember first seeing Tricky Trees in a Forest fanzine years ago. Personally, I prefer Forest too.

I carried on with my saved game as there's still no patch. Won the league by 4 points. Southend a close 2nd.

I've since released Lennon and most of the reserves and almost all the youth players. After sending most of my reserves to Tamworth they ended up being promoted! At least my reserves will get to try their hand at playing at a slightly higher level.

I've bought Nazer Baracite from Arsenal and a young 17 y/o Australian goalie from Liverpool - both for £500k. Both look as though they could be class acts in the future.

I did have about £2.5m in transfer funds left after following Halfpipe's advice. However, the board have given me just £300k for the new season! I would ask for more again. However, I've got a feeling that the board will want a much higher position than I'll be able to deliver. I'd rather consolidate this season, and then ask for more next season and go for promotion.

I also pinched a coach from Wigan to make my assistant. He's already far more helpful than David Kerslake ever was!

I almost signed Soley too. He seemed to have decent stats.

I considered signing Malcolm Christie but decided against it. I tried to sign Marlet but lost out to a French side.

I'll check out Damon Gray.

I am into my second season with Forest.
First Season-I found League 1 quite easy as all the top players remained fit throughout pretty much.
I offloaded quite a few players though-Bennett, Perch, Smith, Dobie. I didnt really rate them in comparison to what was there and what I had brought bar Smith who had to go as I had a good offer. I snapped up Malcolm Christie on a free, Craig Forsyth from Dundee, Alan Marriot from Lincoln and Owen Morrison from Dunfermline. I struggled in the cups as the fringe players never performed well. As I said-Cohen, Commons, Davies, Chambers, Wilson, Morgan, McGugan, Agogo stayed injury free for most of the season so I had a strong XI every week and won League 1.

The championship is a lot tougher. The board were very poor in offering me a low budget of 130K. Lennon went, Tyson was sold as he was poor all year but I snapped up good freebies in Mikolounis, Jamie Adams, Shelton Martis, Barry Hayles and brought Ben Williams for 90K. However, problems have arised-Morgan is out for 5 months, Christie is playing dreadfully, Agogo is struggling for fitness and I seem to be drawing a few too many.
However, on the positives-Breckin is off, after asking for more cash I now have £4.5 million to spend so I am bringing in Kilgallon and Stead for around £2M combined. Barry Hayles is proving that at 36 he is still a better striker than Agogo, Christie, Holt and Sinclair. I am 9th in the league with some tough matches coming up.

Hi Bloc

What expectations did you have? Mine wanted a safe mid-table finish. I've only had chance to play 1 game in my 2nd season and I beat Plymouth 3-0 away.

9th in season two is good though. I'm aiming to consolidate for a season (get some decent feeder clubs and youth players coming through), then aim for the play-offs, and then promotion in season four!

Has anyone had any decent feeder clubs? I had 2 lots of 4 offered at the start of season 2 and I turned them all down. I wish I hadn't now as that option has been greyed out.

I tried signing Kilgallon but he ended up going to Leicester! Another target of mine ended up going to Derby!

I ended up buying some young Brazilian from Arsenal for 75k, and he's already had time off for flu, food poisoning etc... and has upset my fans who think he'll be a bad influence in the dressing room! He's only an 18 year old kid though!

I'm considering selling Morgan. He made a few mistakes in League One, and his contract is up at the end of '09 so I might cash in while I can. Smith, Perch, Bennett and Tyson have all done well for me but I might sell them if I'm given a decent offer. I haven't quite got replacements for all of them so it might be a bit of a risk.

If anyone needs a good attacking central and right sided midfieler for Forest, then you could do worse than check out Peggy Lokando from Southend. I signed him in 07 and 08 and he's been quality both times! And a bargain at around 30k!

I've just finished my second season with Forest. Finished 10th in the Championship. The board and the fans seem happy enough. It's the first time I've seen the board change from being 'satisfied' to 'pleased.' Far more realistic than previous versions when they would be 'delighted' after just a few weeks.

I paid 1.7m for Kyle Lafferty. He did ok. His ratings were good but he only scored 11 goals in about 35 games. Grant Holt top scored with 12. Kris Commons and David Thompson got about 8 each from the wings. Nacer Barazite a 500k signing from Arsenal scored 9 from midfield in about 25 starts! Not bad for an 18 year old! I paid 300k for a winger from Fiorentina called Do Prado who's done very well for me too.

Paul Smith is a legend between the sticks! Wilson and Chambers have been solid defenders too.

I sold the 18 year old Brazilian kid from Arsenal. What a waste of time he was. A complete clown. Cohen's also on his way to Sheff Weds. He's not consistent enough. Davies went too, as did Morgan - all have 25% sell-on clauses though!

I also tried to get Marlon Harewood back on loan but Villa wouldn't have it - even though he's barely played a game in 2 years!

Has anyone had much joy with feeder clubs? I ended up having to take Ayr in Scotland, and even my 17 year old Scottish regen has turned his nose up at them! I've tried getting commercial links but the board couldn't find anyone. I'm now on the lookout for a work permit link.

I'm about to get given my new crop of youngsters so I'm hoping for a real gem. Fingers crossed!

I've managed to make a few quid in the transfer market to help fund the push for the Premiership!!!

Started a game with Forest after getting bored of a Premiership team.

Got Newcastle United as a parent club. Took three of their youngsters on season-long deals.

Season 1 - Players in (1st transfer window):
Malcolm Christie (Free Transfer)
David Thompson (Free Transfer)
Matty Pattison (Newcastle, Loan)
James Troisi (Newcastle, Loan)
David Edgar (Newcastle, Loan)
Bogdan Stancu (Unirea, £200k)
Kieran Lee (Man U, £90k)
David Mirfin (Huddersfield, £375k)
Genero Zeefuik (PSV, £180k)

Sold a number of players for much needed cash to fund transfers.

Paul Smith, Kelvin Wilson, Neil Lennon, Nathan Tyson, Kris Commons and Chris Cohen were the current players who remained.

Team:
GK: Smith
DR: Wilson
DL: Lee
DC: Edgar
DC: Mirfin
MC: Lennon
MC: Cohen
AMR: Thompson
AML: Pattison
AMC: Troisi
ST: Stancu

The team was strong for League 1 and we were leading from the start. However, the best signing came during the 2nd transfer window:

Ali Karimi (Qatar SC, £1.1m)

Karimi went into the playmaking role behind my main striker. He came in scoring goals for fun. We clinched the title easily.

2nd Season

The relegation of Blackburn proved important. They went on a mass sale (Samba £8.25m, Emerton £8m, Pedersen £9m, Bentley £9m), generating £36m in total.

I offered some players for sale, and Blackburn came in with:
Kieran Lee £1m + £2.4m/24mths + 50% sell-on
Kelvin Wilson £2m + £3.5m/24 + 50%
David Mirfin £2.1m + £6.1/24 + 50%

Paul Smith went to Q.P.R. for £1m + £1.7m/24, Chris Cohen to Hearts for £1.8m + £2.8m/24.

Amazing money this game has!

Now looking to bring in some players I have been eyeing. Lulinha came in for £2.4m. I can't wait to see him play. I have confidence in my attack. Ramage (Newcastle, free) and Enakarhire (D. Moscow, £2.5m) came in to shore up my defence.

Season 2 starts now.

The Tricky Trees is really a horrible name though
