Sussex Hammer

I wrote a thread recently stating that more often than not the away team (in my game anyway) dominates possession, despite what the result may end up as.

I have kept a log of results since and this is what I have found.

Firstly the way I play.

So as you can see the Away Team has had more possession than the Home side in all Matches but 6. And in those games one of those is a 50/50 and against Blackburn I had a player sent off after 10 mins which obviously would affect possession.

Now surely this is not quite right? Surely more often than not (with certain exceptions) the Home Team should have more possession. If I was giving away possession all the time I could attribute it to the tactic but I play the same tactic both home and away and yet I have more possession away than I do at Home for the most part.

Is this a bug or my tactic?

yeah iv'e noticed it too its doing my head in hopefully its a bug and its sorted in the patch

I think th problem is that the away team plays more defensive. If you watch the whole game, you may notice the oppoments defence/midfield just knock the ball between them.
With the lack of closing down, they just hold possesion with little (If any) forward move.

I'd usually agree with that but.... I'm the away team in half those fixtures and more often than not always use my Home Formation away.

So why do I tend to lose possession at Home but tend to dominate possession away.

My point is rule of thumb IRL ite tends to be the Home Team that has more possession!!

I think from that your playing a better formation away than at home, showing that you dominate away and tend to play a weaker one at home.

Havnt noticed this myself but im looking for any kind of pattern in my results to be honest!

It really depends on your style of play. Most of my gungho tactics produce something like 40% possession but more shots and goals..some of my tactics consistently give me more possession, goals and maybe not as many shots..so its hard to say whether its a bug or not.

I can't say I've seen this, I generally have around 55-60% possesion (up to high 60s if I dominate).

I would think it's becuase the AI plays a more possesion based game against you when they're at home. Try running with a couple of forward moving DMs, they hold the ball well.
