fm 2008 throws stupid results at you like i manage to beat arsenal man u and liverpool only to lose against the bottom team the very next week..

it just seems so random sometimes.. and as for the board telling me they are concerned with the finances when i have 32 mil in my account that was just the final straw

I put this down to takeing matches for granted and not preparaing well enough for a small team

Need to see more info but perhaps even with 32 million in the bank the forecast with player wages, stadium improvements, training facility improvements etc the money wont be enough by the end of the season??

I found that it was the other way round. I felt 07 was far more random than 08, far more silly mistakes leading to goals, way more amazing comebacks from the AI etc. In 08 im beating the teams I'm expecting to beat, and losing the games I expect to lose, with a few random ones thrown in. Feels much better to play.

(I'm not considering the finance bug and confidence bug here though lol)

Sure , the shots are 25-1 and you still have to read the tactics section .
The matter is clear , the engine needs fixing and goalkeepers should have a cap of maximum saves that should never be more than 5 .
