I know there's been many discussions before, but due to the useless search function, I can't find any to rejuvenate

Anyway, just started a new game (got bored of my Wigan save) with Beta 2, and I'm finding it incredibly hard to sell anyone. They're all set to transfer status "Not needed by the clubs", and I'm offering them at massively cut prices.

I don't care about the arguments of they may have wages too high for clubs, or aren't good enough for some clubs, because they just don't cut it for me. Wayne Routledge for 250k, any lower Premier League side and certainly Championship sides would jump at. His wages aren't extortionate and are certainly affordable, but I cannot generate any interest at all.

Same goes for Ghaly - although he's not World Class, any decent team would fork out 500k for him (he's valued at £3.1m for Christ's sake). Birmingham were willing to shell out 4m for him this season. Stalteri for 100k anyone? In the world? No chance.

Basically, the transfer market is incredibly unrealistic at times, and I haven't even started talking about having to pay 10x the value of a European-renowned player to get him. This wasn't intended as a rant, but has sort of progressed into one. I don't mean to argue or provoke. I'm just curious as to whether anyone else was suffering from this, and if it has been noted for the upcoming patch at all?

Yep, I can't even flog off Voronin in the 2nd season after a substantial role in the 1st season for 4mil, even though he is valued at 6.5mil

Me too. It is starting to annoy me big time. I took my Leeds United team to the Premiership and decided to sell some of my players who arent good enough in this level but would quite easily be some of the best players in the Championship. Their values are around 1m-5m pounds. For the love of god I just cant sell any of them or even generate any sort of interest. Asking Price = 0. Interest? None.

im on beta patch 2 and im finiding it tooo easy to sell players - with aston villa i sold carew for 19m + 50%, young for 22m + 50 % and sorenson for 6m + 50%

I just managed to sell my star L1 player, Chinese Intl. But low reputation since he has been with me for several years through the lower league push. 2.5 million + 50% sell on to Rangers. He was value at under 250k

I managed to sell a 30+ year old reserve team defender valued at 900k for £5m in installments to a lower league side. I feel a bit guilty really, I expect they'll go bankrupt now or something...

I too am finding it very hard to sell my players. I got promoted, spent a season avoiding relegation and then after bringing in many players tried to seel some of the old ones - I was sure some of the teams from the league below would fancy a few of my players for 0%-10% of their actual value. No chance!

But at least it seems the AI are having the same trouble too - I get the same players offered to me every week in the whole season.

I hope this is fixed in the patch.

I agree. Drogba did great for me after 1 season, but i decided to sell him...in real life pretty much every big team would throw money at me, but no not in FM08...Inter would like to loan him...pay 0% of his wage and have the option to buy him for £0 after loan period.

But Alex, my central defender, nearly didt play for my Chelsea team was sold for 19million to Juventus after 1 season.

I think it's generally harder to sell strikers, because:
a) they've the highest market value
b) every team thinks their strikers are doing well, because nearly 70% of the goals are scored by the strikers. And at least one of their strikers is doing well (goal in every second game).

I'm just starting my third season with Newcastle, and I've sold almost £200m worth of players. I've found it easier this year than ever before to sell players.
