I was listening to Scott Mills on the Radio a few weeks ago and they got talking about it, lots of people have applied for football manager jobs after playing the game, one guy was on the radio saying his mum was bothering him to get a job so he applied for the Newcastle managers job and another had applied to be manager of Birmingham City and got a reply saying he was rejected because he only got a "C" grade in french and that he would struggle to communicate with all the foreign players.
I applied for the Reading job before Steve Coppell was appointed.
I had just won the Champions league with Reading on FM and included that point in my application but the return letter from Nicky Hammond (which I still have) told me that they really wanted someone with more experience within the professional game.
I actually think the problem was more to do with the fact that at the time I didn't drive and would need to catch the train to the ground from my neighbouring village of Twyford then cycle to the stadium.
Also at the bottom of the letter from Reading FC it still had Alan Pardew listed as team manager !!!
Perhaps I should have applied for a simple admin job and sorted out the stationary instead.
You could be one of the best FM Managers alive(like me ) and I dont think it would help you get a job with any premiership club because their league rules (with a few notable exeptions Fergie, Gareth Southgate & a couple others that I cant remember) require all managers to have a FIFA Pro Licence. I may be wrong but I dont think they give them out to just anybody.
Wasn't Chelsea's chief scout (or one of their top scouts at least) along time CM/FM player who a few had his own CM/FM website. Is his name Svein or something?

Just remembered while I was watching "I'm a celebrity" who the other current premiership manager that I was thinking of was. It was the current chelsea Manager  In fact wasn't that the reason they got this dutch guy as his assistant in case he doesn't get the licence.

It was Middlesboro - The guy was doing an internet wind-up. Steve Gibson sent a classic reply, making him the best chairman IRL ever!

Great story and it was fantastic of the Middlesbrough chairman to take the trouble to reply.
I must say it's crossed my mind a couple of times to apply for an actual job...but only during the months when I haven't had a job, and even then I would probably only apply to wee sides nobody has ever heard of.
