I got Sheff Utd promoted in my first season after I finished 2nd (1 point from winning the league!) Now in my first year in the prem I am having the worst run of my entire CM/FM career.
20 games into the season I have won 0!!! Drawn 10 and lost 10. Most of the draws were very close with the opposition scoring the equaliser in the dieing minutes.
I suppose if I had won 5 of them draws I would have 20 points going into the last 18 games, possible I would stay up.
How have you done when bringing a championship side up to the prem in FM08.
In FM07 I did really well first year in the prem with Preston but I'm starting to get depressed now with my run.
I done it with Ipswich promoted the 1st year via the play-offs,!st year in premership was a bit of a struggle I was lucky I got of to a good start with I think 4 wins and 3 defeats after that was a real struggle but finished 17th with a few points to spare.2nd season finished 15th and won the league cup,3rd season finished 9th and got into europe via the fair play awardnow in my 4th season but only a few games in but media predict 10th place hoping for a bit better myself, all in all found it hard work the 1st 2 seasons but now with more cash and better players feel pretty secure in the premership.
on 07 i unfortunatly didnt have the extra bit of luck to get out of the championship with coventry i got to 2023 and was the official yoyo team in the championship, 7th one year 14th the next 8th the next year 16th the next! the one time ive ever got into the premiership i have scraped by finishing 17th very very close and I have been relegated but not sacked after which was a surprise!
Well in my first season the board expected me to consolidate in the championship and I told them I'd challenge for the Championship, which we did.
So they can hardly be annoyed at me for getting them promoted and not doing too well. I don't suspect I'd be sacked but I've never been relegated in my life, I think I need some time off work to concentrate on my FM career
my one tip is that you have to invest in new talent as only a few of your team would be prem standard i.e. billy sharp.
you were probably given £13m or so so that was enough.

I got £14m and got Ben Foster, Harry Kewell, Van Der Meyde, I was hell bent on buying a decent defender after Jonanthan Evans went back to Man Utd as I had him on loan but I didn't get one.
I've found the opposite problem, championship players seem to be better so despite a very good team, it was a nightmare to get promoted, via the playoffs in the 3rd season after 2 more play-off visits, now i'm up I've found it easier. admitedly I'm only 5 games in but I've beaten man U, who are the champs (first game actually), as well as 2 other in form teams (portsmouth and sheff utd may not seem like much but me playing them are the only games they haven't won so far, drawing with the former, beating the latter) despite having to play in the LC 1st round as well and having a match at the beginning of international break (with 2 important players missing). since the only team that can beat me (on gd) to top spot haven't played a 5th game, I'm technically 3 points clear.
admitedly I'm not drawing conclusions from 5 games, I won't even draw conclusions from the first season, i'm under no illusions, especiallu since I have my goalie to thank quite a bit. but given i've hardly had an easy start, fixturewise (champions plus 2 form teams as 3 of them), its a lot easier than I expected it to be, and at the very least i doubt relegation will be an issue.
