| Of course they can represent England - The person was born in London, so they are English..
Good point by the way by a previous poster, as far as passports go, its a UK passport - not English....

Ok, that's why Simone Perotta was eligible to play for England.

5 years in england and you are eligible for a british pasport thus eligible to play for england. (thats why kanu didnt want to leave the country a couple of years back).
years to gain nationality can be adjusted in the editor.

Cudicini got capped for Italy in the first season in my game and so I couldn't have called him up anyway.
Why does Shevchenko not have Italian as a second nationality? I know he can't play for them as he's got loads of Ukraine caps, but it makes it harder to sign him if your managing in Spain or Italy.

if you are born in england then of cos you can play for england. However we are talking about foreign national who obtain residency or nationality in UK by staying here for certain number of years. Those people wont be able to play for england if they dont have any tie with any of the home country.

| you are getting confuse here i think. Kanu certainly didnt stay in england just so that he could play for england. he represented nigeria already so he couldnt have play for another nations.

Okay, if you have 5 years residency, you are entitled to apply for a British passport and could then, in theory, play for one of the Home Nations (there is some debate about what FIFA/UEFA will allow, but it's not been tested that much).
But you have to apply for it. It's not automatic.
Cudicini has no interest in playing for England and there's no benefit in him having a British passport, so he hasn't applied for one. Hence, he doesn't have Englaish as a second nationality.
For Shevchenko, getting an EU passport (Italian) meant he was not counted as a foreign player within the Italian quota system. So there was a direct benefit, so he applied.

| again, we are talking foreign nationals who "become" british, not someone who born in home country.
