Hi there,
I'm from Holland and we do have some funny names when you look at them as from an english perspective.
Kok is a very common name in Holland and it means cook.

I have lived in holland for 6 years(used to live in scotland)and I still cant get used to the names here have a friend named Bas van deplas,Which translates too bas from the ****.
for the OP it is very possible in holland somewhere there is un unfortunate women called "Fanny kok",Fanny is a popular girls name here so very possible.
The Dutch are famous for having ridiculous family names, also from a Dutch perspective:
Zoetemelk (Sweet milk)
Komkommer (Cucumber)
Kok (Kok Wim, was a former prime minister of The Netherlands (‘Kok’ means Chef))
Naaktgeboren (Born Naked)
Poepjes (Little Feces)
Now, some say it has to do with Napoleon. When he was the ruler of Holland and Belgium, he demanded that people registered their name. The Dutch protested this procedure and gave a silly name.
It's a nice story but it’s an urban legend which is hard to kill. </BLOCKQUOTE>
