Ok, before i get into this, I want to make sure that you all understand the ground rules, which is basically, this is how i wanted to try this specific game, yeah, u may think it's "cheating" but you know what, deal with it.
Okies, with that out of the way, some background. Started a new game with leeds, but, changed the database, making Beckford, Martin, Prutton, Carole, Huntington and Frazier basically gods, with a CA of 160+, PA of 200. Blah blah blah, cheater cheater...Deal with it though.
Regardless, as you can all imagine, i tended to get nonstop bids for the players, as well as constant requests to be tfered, which i of course ignored. The problems started when i made their status reject all bids under 96 Million. Unfortunately, when a bid of 15-20 mill came in, Bates always accepted, as hey, 20 mil for leeds is great, lol. What i figured out though is they're accepting bids based on financial status, etc. So, what i tried is to set the asking price to 40K, lol, and u know what, perfecto! not once was a bid accepted by bates, and i was able to keep all my great players.
Personally, i don't care if they're constantly whinging and moaning about being listed, or me not accepting their bid. I always find it amusing when they whine about "even though i have a contract, doesnt mean i can't play somewhere else" lol, since, u know, thats exactly what it means. You're on contract, u go nowhere
Anyway, to all u man city managers who keep on getting Richards sold out from under you, set his asking price to 40-90K, never answer an inquiry for his value, and always wait till the last days before declining the bids, and u should be good as gold
You'll be fine until their contract runs out anyway. They'll probably then be so annoyed that you've kept rejecting bids for them despite them wanting to leave that they'll leave on a free and you'll still lose the player but also have no money to show for it.
Also having annoyed players in your team can have adverse effects on both moral and on pitch performances of the entire team. You'll not notice it at the moment as your super leads squad will hammer everyone whether they're happy or not, but in a normal team who's ability is relative to their league you could find it counter-productive to just hold onto these players at any cost.

A few times, when knowing i cant make my stat man sign a new contract, i'll happily let him play ou his contract, just to have him at the club, and you never know, towards the end, the club could be in a better position and he wants to stay.! Worked a few times for me. I'll only sell/release players that have no future in my squad, never because the money is more important.
Chopper, we keep on winning though, so that helps morale dont forget. Since we're always winning, high morale. Also, and i know this was super evil, when i changed their CA/PA, i also changed the contract expiration to 2013, lmfao, so they can whinge all they want, but they're under contract till 2013!
I did actually get some renegotiate contract issues, which i gladly gave them new ones, so that was alright as well.
Now, only 2 players requested to be listed, Costa and Huntington. Since we achieved promotion to EPL, the players i'm now able to buy has increased substantially, so, i sold off Seb Carole and De Costa for 22Mil respectively , way to cheap, but management stepped in, and purchased Jiminez(Chilean AMC, dirt Cheap), Vaart, Banega and Makinwa(2.5Mil) instead. pretty happy all around

You shouldn't have wasted the 2 years in geting to the EPL and just edited Leeds into it from the start, if that was you reasons for editing the players CA / PA's??
Each to their own i suppose but I can't see the point in what your've done.

I signed Jiminez for my Leeds United team as well when we got promoted to the Premiership. He was absolutely immense, single-handedly kept my team in the Premiership.
Roscoe, honestly, I started a game with Leeds having them in the Championship, but for some odd reason, they were complete and utter crap, while the same game i started with them in League 1 was lots more fun, though, we only won the league by i'd say 6 points or so. As to the players, was more curious than anything else tbh. I'd never tried it in the past, but was curious as to how it'll work since i usually like to play Ujpest in the Borsodi liga(Hungary) first, without any updates. But, figured what the hell, y not. Also, lets face it, having, what, 6 great players doesnt make a team great, it does make it easier.
pe1014, yeah, omg, Jiminez was a find, i couldn't believe my scouts came up with him!!! playing for some 2nd or 3rd div team in Italy, got him for 2mil up, the rest deferred, now worht 12mil.
