at last England have got their just deserves. its about time they realised they are not a superpower.
they think they are a superpower amongst world football, when in fact they are not even a superpower in Europe.... at best they are on par with Scotland at the moment and at most a top team amongst the british isles.
yes i am from wales, yes i am glad england will be staying home with us next year.... have a taste of what we go through. i will be disapointed not to be watcthn them next year as they provide excellent viewing.
im not anti english, but it annoys me how they always expect to go through. its the same old story
england qualify (wether it be a struggle or with ease) and they automatically think they have a chance of winning tournaments.... when was the last time they got to a final?
no way they are a superpower, they cant even win in their own back yard with 80,000 passionate england fans behind them.
blame the injuries, but with the players available for england these days (the usual names were not available) there should be no need to panic, McLaren panicked and didnt have a clue...
he has not experimented properly in his tenure there, same old england - favouritism hits again. even picked the same time as Sven (who failed) at one point.
it makes me sick that a game like that against Croatia where they need a win, the big players they depend on time and time again are not available, and all this pressure is put upon the shoulders of players of quality, but have not played enough games for england as they keep getting looked over when they are not needed.
anyway - its just my opinion, others will disagree with me.
i imagine im gonna get some stick for being welsh but hey wotever - just voicing.
ps
it will also be intresting to see what happens to mclaren, i cant see him taking them forward... i think i would like to see o'neill as manager or possibly wenger.
I am English and sadly I agree with some of what you've said. I don't think we are a superpower anymore, however I think world football has changed over the last 10-15 years immensely and there are no teams (certainly in Europe) who are capable of dominating the way they used to. Look at Italy and France struggling or Greece winning the last Euro... These tournaments are there for the taking now by many more teams than before which I think is a good thing for football. Just wish England were there to take it!
