97/98. december the 7th 1997 at 7.00am, to be precise. (twas my birthday. I was sooo excited about getting cm. i'd played the demo for a few weeks before that, but i don't count demoes)

When it started and well as Champ Man for a bit but i'm afraid this may be my last 08 ive played 4 matches and hate it completely. Not addictive enough, best squads struggle to win matches, poor comments at the start and end of matches as Middlesbrough being disappointed with a 1-0 loss to Chelsea away is hardly likely. 2007 was a much more addictive game and all they needed was 2007 with the new additions not completely change things! Poor attempt in 2008!

Championship Manager 3 was my first.
Ive still got Season 99/00 sat on my shelf actually, in its box with the manuals and all the promotional leaflets!
No idea how that happened. I had a break from all PC games between 00/01 until FM2007!

FM was out for the ZX81 before the Speccy came out. It was basically the same game for both but with colours and the little stickmen animation added for the Speccy.

I've bought all of them, since the beginning: I owned a spectrum, Commodore 64, Vic 20, Amiga...etc.
For me these forums epitomise the ingratitude of the new FM brigade. They don't know how lucky they are with the modern version. The squealing and whining was obviously going to happen as soon as the game enetered the mainstream.
The only one I didn't play was last year's (still bought it though).
I also played that italian version at my best friend's house! I remember cycling home from my pal's house at 7am, meeting my angry dad as he left for work. Those were the days! :cool:
